Perfect Attendance
This is an organization I'm really proud and excited to be part of! Friday, we completed the 6 week test run of the program. Students at Woodrow Wilson High school were able
to accumulate points via attendance & improved grades (think
AA Frequent Flyer Points) to redeem for
gifts,
services and
tickets - thanks
Mark Cuban! The response was tremendous from the students, teachers and sponsors. The whole thing closed down with a live performance by
Orlando Salinas and a visit from the WFAA Channel 8 news crew. It was a blast to go back to HS again. Even though I was bit out of fashion... (IE: never wear a
Banana Republic jacket with a
Hurley skater t-shirt!). The best news? DISD officials reported an increase of attendance of almost
3% for the short beta-test! Whoo Hoo! Congrats to Stewart Lytle the program's founder! Looks like we're back in for additional schools this fall. :D
Bueller? Bueller?
'PA' Increased attendance at Woodrow Wilson by almost 3%!!
"Edgar"
I'm still recovering from the
"24 Hour Dallas Video Race". This was my 1st year to be part of this intense-insane-indoor-outdoor-scavengerhunt production. We had an awesome team of people to pull off the 5 min short (all of which had to be written, cast, shot and edited in less than 24 hours). Our requirements: Location: a playground; Theme: Easy Money; Prop: ladder; Line: "you can have it". Curt Johnson wrote the comedy
"Edgar" after we tossed around several ideas at
Denny's around 1:00am Saturday. 5 'Grandslams' & 12 coffees later, we were back at my house with Curt writing away. I was downloading soundeffects and collecting tunes. Tony Estrada worked on software and shotlists while Harley watched. The actors and crew were terrific and patient. As editing frantically wrapped up saturday night, we finished and raced to the
Magnolia Lounge at Fair Park with only 7 mins. to spare. Exhausted but happy, we'll have "Edgar" show along with the other projects Tuesday May 11th at the
Angelika Theater in Mocking Bird Station. Thanks to
HD Republic,
ECI Video and our cast & crew!
Entry fee: $200
Food for crew: $280
Rat/prop Harley chewed up: $45
Knowing we pulled it off: Priceless
