The Endless, Eternal Questions in Life...
I don't like to rant and rave (
especially in public) but I've been pretty pissed off at the local
Dallas media* for ignoring our latest project -
AMERICA SPEAKS OUT! With all the complaining DFW does about "
no film projects ever get done here", you'd *think* they might get excited when somebody actually does a Dallas-based project - and one that's content speaks to the country's most pivotal election in decades! But.. (insert nameless dread sigh here) alas, no. They're too excited about reporting on
Ashley (Jessica's sister) Simpson lip-syncing on SNL. Now... THAT'S news. Or how about Cuban's
Benefactor? That's much more fun to trash than to actually explore, research and write about what's going on along the edge of filmmaking, documentaries and oh... screw it. ............ Hey, we had a great turnout at our showing last Tuesday at the Magnolia - thanks to all ya'll for coming out! AND you get a chance to see it tomorrow at the Angelika Mockingbird Station at 8PM. But, until our media becomes supportive or we decide to spend more money on attracting filmmakers here... you'll never, ever hear about it ...
Proof that we are a nation in decline.
* KUDOS! to the Turtle Creek News and the Lakewood People newspapers for writing two great articles and to WFAA for early news coverage during our production.
* BOO! to Dallas News, NBCi, UPN, CBS, KERA, KDGE, 105 Talk and Dallas Observer
