Possums, Keeping the City of Dallas Busy...

I woke up early the other morning to hear a dog violently barking. I thought "who the heck left their dog alone and in need of something." I always find it irritating - like a car alarm that goes off every 30 mins because a cat jumps on it. I was embarrassed to find the loud dog to be my own - Harley. I found her in the porte coache under the car. She had cornered a snarling possum - and it was quite pissed. I could not separate the two and my efforts only elevated the loud-fur-filled fight. Margaret watched and wanted to help. I finally grabbed the water hose and sprayed both animals. The possum ran towards Margaret as she screamed and threw a broom at it. Ok, thanks, now it's ReAllY pissed. It then ran, with the audible Harley in tow, towards the back studio. The animal was cornered by the trees, a wall and the loud terrier. Margaret gave me a big terracotta pot which I promptly threw over the wicked looking rodent. Harley immediately stopped barking once it disappeared. I still had to get the leash to pull her away from the scene though. After a quick phone call, the City of Dallas showed up in no time to retrieve the possum. The employee seemed to have good chemistry with the wild thing, so I left them alone to bond. Soon, they both drove off in the white truck and headed to White Rock lake where he said it would be released.... where I'm sure my mom will find it in her garage next week and the whole process will start over again.

Nice Weather and less Trees...

Back from filming our documentary at the RNC in NYC and life is still busy as ever. The end of the summer weather in Dallas has been awesome - cool tempetures, lots of blue sky... but fewer green grass and plants. I came back to find the lot across the street to be leveled of any trees. It appears Cityhomes has started construction of yet another highrent / lowquality project! What sucks is that they could have easily saved about 8 huge Oak and Pecan trees to make the property worth even more (not to mention giving us in Dallas a tad bit more oxygen - since we have the 3rd most polluted air city in the U.S.) . But hey, it's a huge soul-less corporation... now I sound like a liberal huh? I'm actually not, I'm probusiness but the enviorment is high on my list. And yes, you can be both! Think of it as being a gay Catholic. Too bad business won't pick up on this idea as well before its too late for us all.

There goes the neighborhood...
