McCain Just Gave the Election to Obama
I'm sure the motivation for McCain 'suspending' the campaign was born out of that Katrina photo of him and Bush holding his giant birthday cake as people died in New Orleans. But this economy mess (
which has been building for years - thanks to Phil Gramm) isn't a hurricane and just makes McCain look like he's running away from Obama and the debate at hand. Letterman's heavy handed
response to his canceling the guest appearance (while McCain's on live with Couric) just cemented how out of touch this Republican campaign is. This is just another example in a series of bad choices from McCain, and they just keep getting worse and more pronounced. From,
"the economy is strong, all the negativity is all in your head" - to one week later - "
things are such a mess financially, we have to suspend the campaign". Wow. Just wow. So, the bottom line? Like him or not... get used to saying President Obama for the next four years.
"The Land Rover Experience" or
"The Beatings Have Been Rescheduled to Next Tuesday at Eleven"
Yeah, that's Land Rover's corporate tagline (the other headline, I just made up)... but what the new CEO of Land Rover, Jaguar and Tata experienced Monday, was far from a high-end, luxury 'experience'. In fact, he was
beaten to death by employees after they had been laid off. Beaten to death? Yes, beaten to death by hundreds of very angry Indian people. Wow... But, back here in America... when CEOs layoff everyone, then disappear with tens of millions of dollars AND force the taxpayers to bailout what's left of the company... we just write mean things about them on CNN and then buy their books on 'doing business in the new economy'. Somewhere, in all of this craziness, is a solution on how to deal with corporations which are out of control. So, while we're searching for that answer, I'll just say that I kind of lean towards the beating solution myself...
